On Sunday’s, we gather as God’s people for corporate worship. God has saved us individually, to be part of a corporate assembly.
Our gatherings are infused with the Bible. We read the Bible, preach the Bible, pray the Bible, sing the Bible and see the Bible (as we share the Lord’s Supper and baptise).
God gathers us for his glory and praise, for our mutual good, and that the world might see the gospel lived out. When we gather, God serves us before we serve him. He ministers to us. He blesses us. He reveals himself to us. He pours out undeserved grace on us. He speaks first, and we then respond. Even when we serve him, we serve with the strength that he provides.
More than being something we do, or go to, church is something that we are. It’s also something that God gives us for our good.
